The Master in Informatics Engineering is a course focusing on professional practice and providing a registered qualification (Spanish Official State Gazette, of 4 August 2009). This degree course develops and furthers training related to leadership and management, and rounds out and focuses on specialized technologies associated with a broad spectrum of ICT job profiles. Graduates of the Master in Informatics Engineering are practitioners that have a broad scientific, technological and socio-economic grounding, trained to lead and manage development and application projects in the field of computing. Additionally, the master's programme gives interested students the chance to earn several accredited certifications which are in high demand on the labour market at present.
The overall aim of this degree course is for students to acquire the following competences, abilities and skills:
To qualify for the degree, students must earn 120 ECTS credits across four terms.
The Master in Informatics Engineering primarily targets holders of a bachelor’s degree in computing. If the applicant's academic training is insufficient for admission, the Master's Programme Academic Committee shall establish any bridge courses that it considers necessary for the applicant to take with respect to the admission profile. These bridge courses shall be Bachelor in Informatics Engineering subjects now taught at the School of Computer Engineering.

The Programme Academic Committee is the body responsible for student admission to the Master in Informatics Engineering.
It is an admission requirement to certify an English and Spanish language proficiency level of B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) unless either is the student's native language. The supporting document shall be a certificate issued by an authorized institution. Universidad Politécnica de Madrid graduates shall be exempt from this admission requirement, as graduation is conditional upon them having met this requirement.
Students who have a certified language proficiency level of B1 only shall have to have earned the necessary level of B2 by the end of the master's programme.
Candidates may be interviewed, if required, by the Programme Academic Committee or person appointed for the purpose.
The Master in Informatics Engineering is a four-term degree programme starting in September every year.
