Position Profile:
MSc or BSc in Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Science,
Statistics, Mathematics or related fields.
Strong skills in programming with Python is necessary.
Proficiency in English is required.
Experience in gene regulatory networks and machine learning will be valued.
Experience with Docker will be valued
Description of Work:
A selection of algorithms for analyzing gene expression data and the
estimation of gene regulatory networks will be modularized into a
dedicated Python library (Neurogenpy). These algorithms are already
coded and running
in a section of NeuroSuites, our online platform to run multiple
neuroscience tools.
After that, it will serve as the basis to connect this functionality
to the interactive atlas viewer (siibra toolsuite) creating a plugin.
Neurogenpy would exploit the already existing capabilities of
siibra-python to extract gene expression levels, and siibra-explorer
for implementation of plugins. These libraries have been developed by
members of the Forschungszentrum Jülich, so once our algorithms are
packaged in Neurogenpy, we should collaborate together in the
development of a new plugin that will work with their atlas viewer.
This project is part of the European Union's Horizon 2020 Flagship
Human Brain Project (Specific Grant Agreement SGA3).
