PhD Programs (R.D. 99/2011)

The Facultad de Informática is planning to implement the following programs during 2013-2014 academic year:

The PhD in Artificial Intelligence is an adaptation to the provisions of Royal Decree 99/2011 of the same name program verified in accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007 of the Ministry of Education Universities Council. This PhD program is awarded with a Ministry of Education Quality Mention distinction for the 2011-12 to 2013-14 academic years.

The PhD in Software, Systems and Computing (DSSC) has its origin in the fusion of two official PhD programs, both awarded with a Ministry of Education Quality Mention distinction: PhD in Software and Systems and PhD in Advanced Computing for Science and Engineering. This new program is adapted to the provisions of Royal Decree 99/2011.

PhD Programs (R.D. 1393/2007)

The Facultad de Informática offers since 2010/11 academic year three PhD programs in compliance with R.D. 1393/2007.

This programme is intended to supply laboratories and research centres with trained research support personnel in fields where computer-based simulation and modelling is essential, such as the aerospace sector or scientific fields, like biotechnology (genomics, proteomics, neuroscience) or materials science (nanotechnology, etc.), where Spain has a prominent position.

The overall aim of the PhD in Artificial Intelligence is to specialize and train students in research techniques within the fields proper to computer sciences and artificial intelligence. Students should then research and defend a doctoral dissertation.

The main aim of the program is to offer PhD students quality, methodical,  highly specialized, research-driven training to meet the growing demands for qualified human resources to boost  R&D&I capacity in today's world. We set out to train researchers qualified to tackle key theoretical and practical issues in the field of software and systems. Doctoral graduates will be professional researchers capable of working at the cutting edge of their field, further stretching the frontiers of knowledge through innovation and the production of key scientific findings, and qualified to organize research teams and start up, plan, manage and successfully complete research projects. We also place special emphasis on the activities of publicizing and disseminating research.

These three programs cover most of the lines of investigation of the research groups based at the Montegancedo Campus. The Montegancedo Campus awarded the distinction of Campus of Excellence in Information and Communications Technology Research and Transfer by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The common goal of these programs is to train researchers capable of:
