The main objective of the Master's Programme in Digital Innovation is to train professionals capable of innovating and bringing to market the results of research and innovation in cutting-edge technologies. The Master not only prepares the students to be the best possible technologists in their specialization, but also seeks to acquire an entrepreneurial mentality that allows them to anticipate the changes that occur due to new technologies (in their specialization) and devise and develop new products that remain at the forefront of those changes, as well as translating those innovations into feasible business solutions.
The Master's Programme in Digital Innovation is part of the EIT Digital and EIT Health initiative. EIT Digital is one of the first KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Communities), established by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), as an initiative of the European Union. Since 2010, EIT Digital has been challenging to unite the areas of research, education and entrepreneurship in a master's programme on digital technologies aimed at innovation. EIT Health is another KIC created in 2015 with a similar challenge, uniting in a master's program companies, universities, university hospitals and healthcare providers on technology applied to health.

The master's programme dedicates 30 ECTS to training in innovation and entrepreneurship, and 60 ECTS to technical specialization, plus a final project of 30 ECTS. The programme is taught in English. From the perspective of innovation and entrepreneurship, the degree emphasizes two main elements: On the one hand, to offer a set of basic knowledge to students, while providing them with the skills and tools necessary to think about the digital innovation process in "commercial terms" (not only in the technological perspective that is treated in the technical subjects of the master's degrees). Specifically, the intention is to provide students with the necessary skills and tools to be able to develop business models and if necessary launch their own business project or perform similar activities in a pre-existing company (for example, to launch a new ICT product and service or a new business unit in a company not necessarily ...
