The Master programme in Health & Medical Data Analytics program (HDMA) intents to achieve a greater integration of innovation and entrepreneurship skills within the study program.This new study track is funded by the European medtech consortium EIT Health and brings together four top-notch universities from different European countries: Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Universidade de Lisboa, Université Grenoble Alpes and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
The M.Sc. in HMDA aims to provide students with innovation and business skills in addition to their studies in medical data analytics. By connecting them with the community of EIT Health, students gain access to the biggest medtech network in Europe. Our students will be trained in an international mindset through a mandatory semester abroad, which is to be spent at one of the program’s partner universities. Practical experience and team skills will be acquired by innovative teaching and an early connection with medtech companies and hospitals in the course of their studies. The EIT label is a certificate of quality for programmes that combine excellent scientific education with innovation and entrepreneurship training. Graduates of EIT-Labelled degrees form the next generation of health innovators.

The main objective of the master programme in HMDA is to train a new generation of medical engineers who combine a deep knowledge on technical issues related to health technologies with a profound education in innovation and entrepreneurship in the health-tech sector – complemented by a solid understanding of economical as well as societal aspects and effects of the actual challenges of the health-tech sector. The cooperative programme will prepare students to succeed in this emerging field at the intersection of health informatics, data science, and digitation.The Master is a 120 ECTS programme, and you will be able to adapt the programme to your personal needs and interests.
The master programme in HMDA is designed for a period of two academic years at advanced level, leading to a Master of Science degree to be awarded by the respective partner university in accordance with its respective examination regulations. HMDA students are obliged to complete an academic semester at a foreign partner university that counts towards the completion of their master degree according to EIT Health requirements, ensuring international and cross-organisational mobility. The cooperative programme in HDMA includes, amongst others, a mandatory standardized Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) education (30 ECTS) which shall be mandatory for the participating students. Regarding geographical mobility, you will be able to study in two prestigious universities in two different European cities:
•First year (entry point), you will choose between one of these universities: Universidade de Lisboa (UL), Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM).
•Second year of HMDA specialisation, where you will be able to choose to study during one semester (including scholarship) in one of the following options in a different university:
•Analysis of Clinical Data (UPM)
•Medical Signal Processing (FAU)
•Clinical analisys for precision medicine (UGA)
•Bioinformatics and clinical data processing(UL)
You will be awarded with a degree of your entry university and an additional supplement certificate by the EIT Digital, which will mark the specific knowledge results in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship.
